One MP3 workflow for different audio files
Audio files arrive in many forms: an uncompressed WAV from a recorder, an M4A voice memo, a FLAC music archive, an OPUS message, or a WMA file from an older Windows library. Converting to MP3 creates a common playback format that is easy to share and open on modern and legacy devices.

Audio conversion and video extraction
An audio converter changes one audio representation into another. When the input is MP4, MOV, AVI, or MPEG, the workflow extracts the soundtrack and produces an audio-only MP3. It does not preserve video frames, captions, or visual metadata.
What conversion cannot fix
MP3 conversion does not remove background noise, repair clipping, separate vocals, or restore detail from a low-bitrate source. It can improve compatibility and reduce size. For editing tasks, clean the original recording first and perform the MP3 encode only after the final mix is ready.
Keep an appropriate master
If the file may be edited or reused, keep a lossless WAV or FLAC master. MP3 is ideal as a delivery copy because it is compact and widely supported, but repeated lossy conversions gradually reduce quality. One master plus purpose-specific copies is a safer long-term workflow.
